I saw a need for a new kind of children's book. As a parent, I enjoyed reading books to my children that were engaging. As a teacher, I wanted to read them books that were instructive. So I've created the Little Leona series, written in verse, about a young, smart, imaginative little girl who conquers the challenges in her life bravely and skillfully. The optimal age range for my books is from kindergarten to third grade, although children younger and older have enjoyed my work.
Robert Charles Moore (Bobby) is an artist in Los Angeles, who also happens to be my son-in-law. We worked closely on the illustrations for Leona and he succeeded putting into images what I put into words.
